This course focuses on the care of the client in all care settings who has fecal and/or urinary incontinence. Specifically, the participant will gain knowledge of transient versus permanent incontinence as well as approaches to manage both. Classification of the types of urinary incontinence will be described and treatment identified. Risk assessment, prevention, identification and management of the incontinence problem will be included. Knowledge will be presented in order to improve the nurse’s knowledge and care of patients with bowel and bladder incontinence issues.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: |
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 1. Analyze individual clinical practice program objectives to create a project that incorporates role development and staff education. 5. Describe the types of studies that create evidence and the significance of evidence in building a credible, viable practice. 6.
